Arthur is a British actor and writer, resident in the UK, with many TV and stage roles to his credit. Arthur is best known for the role of Crabtree in the hit BBC TV comedy series 'Allo 'Allo! He appeared in the series from 1985 to 1992, together with record-breaking seasons of the stage version in the West End, Australia, New Zealand and on national tours of the UK.
Most recent work includes Malvolio in Twelfth Night (Original Theatre Company 2011), Martin in Hebburn ( BBC 2 Autumn 2012), A ntonio in The Merchant Of Venice (Lancaster), Daniel in Can We Stop It There? (Library Theatre), Martin Parnaby in Doctors ( BBC 1) , Bishop of Lax in See How They Run at the Royal Exchange Manchester , The Good Soldier Svejk (Radio 4) and Horne and Corden ( BBC 3).
Arthur has spent much of the last three years writing and completing a novel and, catching up on his academic past, recently became a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He was one of three judges for the Portico Prize for Literature in 2012. He moved from the south to Manchester in 2006 and regards it as one of his better decisions.
