We were very proud to host the first post-pandemic, large-scale Pride event in the country in August 2021. It was our boldest, queerest, most diverse celebration of LGBTQ+ life yet, but we acknowledge that some things no longer felt right. The priorities of our communities had shifted and we didn't respond as quickly as we'd have liked.
The latter part of 2021 marked the start of a new phase for Manchester Pride, as we embarked on our biggest consultation with our communities in 10 years. Pride In Our Future has given Greater Manchester's LGBTQ+ communities a chance to co-design the future of the Manchester Pride Festival and have their say on our grant-making policy. United, we are excited for what lies ahead.
We’d like to say thanks to all of our supporters, volunteers, donors and sponsors, without whom Manchester Pride Festival would not have been possible. An extra thanks goes to the headline sponsor for Manchester Pride Festival; Virgin Atlantic. At a time when it was not possible to fly freely and whilst they were facing the instability of the air travel industry, Virgin Atlantic stood by us—cementing their commitment to supporting Manchester Pride as we continued to spearhead the Pride movement.
