After consulting with our communities following last year's Manchester Pride Festival we understood we needed to make changes to the welcome at the entry gates to the Gay Village Party. We've joined forces with LGBT Foundation to recruit a special team to work alongside the event security team.
We are looking for dedicated people who understand the nature of our work and want to join in creating and delivering a safe event for all visitors to the Gay Village Party over the August bank holiday weekend. Manchester Pride, working in partnership with LGBT Foundation, has created an exciting volunteer opportunity for the 2022 Manchester Pride Festival: Village Angels Welcome Team.
Fully supported by the Manchester Pride Events Team and the LGBT Foundation Team, the Village Angels Welcome Team will be a key component of the Festival. The role will involve:
- Welcoming customers t the Gay Village Party at the entrance to the event.
- Distribute items to visitors to the Box Office.
- Signpost visitors to the key area around the event site.
- Offer welfare and advice to support visitors, and direct them to welfare areas or first aiders if required.
- Provide on-the-ground community feedback to the event management team.
- Promote a sense of wellbeing and psychological safety by having community members as part of the planning and delivery of the Manchester Pride Safety Policy.
Volunteers will receive food and drink during their shifts, access to the volunteer hub across the weekend and free entry to the Manchester Pride Festival.
