Who is Monki?
Monki, real name Lucy Monkman, has worked hard to establish herself as one of the most sought-after electronic music DJs in the country. Her love affair with dance music began at an early age, inspired by her mother's eclectic taste in artists like the Chemical Brothers, 808 State, and Prodigy. Monki's infectious energy, magnetic stage presence, and unparalleled ability to curate exceptional sounds have earned her a dedicated following around the world.
With a career spanning over a decade, Monki has not only conquered the decks, but also diversified into other creative realms. She honed her skills in the world of pirate radio, where her talent for spotting underground talent quickly earned her a show on Rinse FM. This early success led to prime-time slots on 1Xtra and eventually Radio 1!
Having become highly respected as an electronic music tastemaker, Monki established her own label, & Friends, in 2018; showcasing releases from talented artists such as Big Miz, DART, Chambray, and Vonda7. Her ability to spot and champion up-and-coming talents extends beyond her label, as she acts as an A&R for Atlantic Records, a prestigious label representing renowned artists like Stormzy and Ed Sheeran.
Monki's infectious beats have taken her across the globe, with performances in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She's a regular fixture at legendary venues like fabric, Sub Club, The Warehouse Project, and the late Plastic People. Additionally, she graces the main stages of esteemed festivals including Sonar, Defected Croatia, Snowbombing, Annie Mac's Lost And Found, and California's HARD Summer.
