I think ‘cutting people off’ is a concept that I never really loved, until I realised that some people truly don’t deserve to be able to get to your energy. It’s not something that’s easy to do and I wanted to get that mental struggle across in the verses, the journey that gets you to that point. We often put someone else’s feelings above our own, trying to keep the peace and appease this person and everyone else around us, when they’ve really only made our lives hell. It’s madness. I wanted to create a song that amplified the strength in making that call.”
