We were born out of the co-operative movement over 150 years ago and we’ve always believed in equality and inclusion for all. Whether that’s through our inclusive working culture, supporting local communities, or campaigning for meaningful, societal change – we believe that everyone has, and deserves, an equal place in society.

Our vision of equality is shared with our customers, colleagues and partners, and guided by our unique, customer-led Ethical Policy. Our customers tell us what matters to them, and we take action on it. That means they decide what causes we support and who we do and don’t provide banking services to.
So when our customers tell us they want us to stand up for human rights and equality, we will. That’s why we refuse banking services to any organisations that advocate discrimination or incite hatred.

Pride is more than a weekend
We’re incredibly proud to be part of Pride celebrations throughout the UK, and especially here in our hometown of Manchester. We’re proud to sponsor the Manchester Pride Festival for the ninth year running.
Our support for Manchester Pride is led by our LGBTQ+ colleague inclusion group; Proud Together. Together, with our colleagues and partners, we will continue to campaign for greater equality and inclusion for all, all year round. We’re proud to celebrate LGBTQ+ life and to contribute to the creation of equal opportunities for everyone in our communities.
