At Manchester Pride, we believe in intersectional queer liberation and campaign for LGBTQ+ equality all year round.

In the UK and across the world trans people and their rights are under significant threat, and thus a great deal of visibility either functions to vilify, defend or mourn the trans community. So often this is a negative conversation, a difficult and emotive space that positions trans people as a group to fear, pity or save. This is not what International Trans Day of Visibility is about.

On Trans Day of Visibility we celebrate trans, non-binary and gender diverse people and communities. We uplift their work, their voices and their contributions to society as a whole. Yes, we will emphasise the need for change, and continue to fight for progress, but we do so within the context of the brilliant and important work that trans individuals and groups play in a global movement for gender-based liberation.

We’ve put together some resources, information and recommendations to celebrate and honour trans, non-binary and gender diverse people and their talents, knowledge and contributions, both today and throughout history. This includes educational articles to read, signposts to key groups and organisations fighting for trans liberation, and the celebration of trans activists, artists and works for you to enjoy and learn from.

Wherever you are on your trans activism journey, we hope this resource will help you diversify your reading and research, and provide the tools needed for us all to better advocate for equality and liberation for trans people everywhere. Today and every day let us not just make trans people visible, but rather, let us make visible the important work of trans liberation.
