What is Volunteers’ Week?

Taking place from 1st - 7th June every year, Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities.

This week, we want to take a moment to thank our dedicated volunteers for all of their incredible work, not only at Manchester Pride Festival, but all throughout the year.

Why should I become a Manchester Pride volunteer?

Without the invaluable support from our incredible volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do the things we do for LGBTQ+ communities across Greater Manchester. 

Volunteering is a rewarding experience and a great way to make new friends within the Pride community. And we’ve plenty of amazing perks for you in return, too!

1. It’s a great opportunity to build new skills and boost your CV

The huge variety of roles available makes volunteering for Manchester Pride not only an exciting and rewarding experience, but offers multiple opportunities to help you upskill and add some great experience to your CV. You’ll receive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training as part of our volunteers’ programme, which is invaluable in ensuring you’re able to best support intersectional queer communities.

2. By supporting local LGBTQ+ communities, you’ll be a part of the global pride movement

Supporting local communities is the first step in affecting real change worldwide, and volunteering for Manchester Pride means you’ll get plenty of opportunities to  engage with queer communities not just at Manchester Pride Festival, but right across the year! If you volunteer at Manchester Pride Festival, you’ll be right at the heart of our celebrations, and we promise the experience is a rewarding one! 

3. Connect, make new friends and meet like-minded people

There’s no denying that volunteering is one of the best ways to meet like-minded people interested in furthering the same vision. In our case, Manchester Pride’s vision is of a world where LGBTQ+ people are free to live and love without prejudice and our culture is universally celebrated.
